learning methods we use to train students in team work and planning is 'group- projects'. In groups of 5-10 students worked on developing dance shows; songs and music; acrobats moves; sports; arts and weblog. See the blog below to read about the experiences of the weblog-group! The music group received help from the leader singer and guitarist of a local reggae band called the 'Warriors from the East'. The leader singer was so impressed with the songs the students composed he suggested that they record a CD. The whole band offered their help and recording studio and now we have a Hi5 CD! It was a wonderful experience where the students had to deal with working long hours; persistence; feedback and true team work! If you are interested to hear the 5 songs composed and sang by the students send us and email (info@jobortunity.org) and we will send a CD to you for only €5. With this contribution you enable Jobortunity to pay for the expenses and give a free CD to the students. And ofcourse you get into the Hi5 vibe totally!

As look on every day life, we see that is the part of our college to learn more about our country, especially to know many things about tourism and also to improve the way which we think more as the student .In our college we study more about hospitality industry that makes us to become perfect. The park has 542km2 and has many species of plants and animals. Some of the animals we saw were giraffes, buffaloes and other species of monkeys like black and white colobus monkeys. We learnt that the animals also have team players like buffaloes, they stand and are proud for what they have like giraffes, they have little experience but they care of it. Also colobus monkeys with their style of playing (acrobats) in the trees also they have direction and goals. Buffaloes are very responsible because they protect themselves and their babies so that no one can attack them. They have a positive attitude that is why they live in peace and makes their life become better. So the animals also are Hi5.The trip was good for us and we enjoyed a lot and we bring special thanks to madam Caroline who surprise us the whole trip, thanks so much.

written by Hezron,
Jobortunity student .

Jobortunity Tanzaniahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04807809008492946680noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6055754908621618156.post-1273951827557534012010-04-19T06:38:00.000-07:002010-04-19T07:20:08.162-07:00FOOTBALL TEAM - PROJECT<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_Hm_2ARLxRc0/S8xmTxU0J5I/AAAAAAAAACI/nAo2giMLGy8/s320/P1040242.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5461852937937758098" />
FOOTBALL TEAM
(6W+1H= PLAN)
WHAT, WHEN, WHERE, WHO, WHY, WITH WHAT, HOW

About this 6w+1h it makes us to know how to plan and to have a goal and direction in life. It helps us in planning and it helps us work as a team. In shamba the students are divided in groups. Every group is responsible for their own vegetables. And the groups write what they need, like tools and chemicals. Our plan also makes us to think about the way we work as a group and as an individual. Every student enjoys and learns a lot on the shamba which gives us the direction of improving our life. Jobortunity uses the hand to explain the HI5. The first is the thumb, it stands for a positive attitude. The second is the pointer finger that is for direction in life. The third is the middle finger that stands for being proud of what you have in your life. The fourth one is the ring finger that represents loyalty and being a team player. The last one is the little finger that states that you have to take small but smart steps. At this assessment of course every student had to participate and got result. We enjoyed this this very much, because it helps us to know where we came from, where we are and where we are going.

Written by Hezron Peter, Jobortunity student
Jobortunity Tanzaniahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04807809008492946680noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6055754908621618156.post-77594947889292497202009-12-10T02:34:00.000-08:002009-12-10T03:24:06.376-08:00 Four of our team members on our first day with students! The Jobortunity team treated the students to a circus act. LADIES AAAAAND GENTLEMAN, WELCOME TOOOO JOBORTUNITY!!!!! We introduced each other, shared a bit of strange information about each other and each of us did a magic trick (Kim can hold a spoon with her nose and Frida (mama Cook) is a great singer)! The students (and us!) really enjoyed it. After that it was time for the students to get to know each other, we had a very active introduction program.

Jobortunity Tanzaniahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04807809008492946680noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6055754908621618156.post-82363849758914218412009-12-10T01:56:00.000-08:002009-12-10T02:33:44.893-08:00
Week 4, we can't believe how time flies. Students are doing well. They seem to get used to the terminology that Jobortunity is using: Portfolio, PDP (personal development plan), Self-reflection etc. Slowly but surely we see that they are getting the drift of things, especially by the (critical) questions they are asking. Great!

We've had our first guests as well. Magare and Aisla (from the Tanzanian band: Warriors of the East) came to help the students to put music to Jobortunity songs they've written. It was a team work and planning assignment which turned into four excellent songs! The songs have the following themes: A welcoming song (for guests, so please come visit us and the students will sing it for YOU!), a birthday song, the Hi5 song and our Jobortunity song. It was great fun and of course the afternoon ended with four excellent performances and after that Magare treated us to one of his own songs and everyone joined on the dancefloor! Pictures will follow!

Than we had a guest speaker from SIC (a local NGO) who came to speak with our students about HIV/Aids, causes and prevention. It was done in an interactive ways and everyone joined in the conversation/discussion and we had some laughs along the way as well, despite the seriousness of the topic.

Finding out if the student fit the student profile: are they between 17-23, are they basic literate, do they speak basic English, a basic math test, and very important for Jobortunity, are they motivated? Are they keen to no longer be a victim of circumstances, but do they want to travel the road towards self -reliance?

The Jobortunity team is busy registering the students, handing out name cards and answering questions.

The first selection day, very exciting for all involved!

Jobortunity Tanzaniahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04807809008492946680noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6055754908621618156.post-1653269141463361832009-11-27T00:02:00.000-08:002009-11-27T00:05:30.233-08:00Up and running!!Finally!
Here we are to introduce the Jobortunity Training Institute in action!
We’ve been extremely busy, here in Moivaro, Tanzania to get the organisation up and running, but now we have something fantastic to show for it!

In a nutshell, this is what happened:
Jobinterviews with Tanzanian trainers and on September 14 we kicked off with Jobortunity’s Training-of-Trainers program. During this program we started the selection procedure to find Jobortunity’s first group of students. We sent out our student profile to local organisations to help us with the search. Lots and lots of students showed up!
After two more very active selection days, we held our one-on-one interviews with the 40 selected students.
Since two weeks we now have the students in the house and it is FANTASTIC! What an energy in the building, the students are very eager and keen to participate in all the activities being thrown at them. This is what the year filled with preparations and fundraising was for, we are now where we envisioned to be, with all sorts of new challenges and expectations ahead of us.Jobortunity Tanzaniahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04807809008492946680noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6055754908621618156.post-71964833018378182952009-03-26T06:13:00.000-07:002009-03-26T06:53:05.410-07:00
Welcome to our Weblog

Jobortunity

*training institute for future hosts*

Tanzania
Jobortunity Tanzaniahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04807809008492946680noreply@blogger.com2
